Skyorah Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026
Skyorah (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a messaging and calling app operated by Zynito. This policy explains what information we collect when you use Skyorah, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Skyorah you agree to this policy.
Questions? Write to support@zynito.com.
1. Information we collect
Account information
- Your mobile number (country code and number). You sign in with a one-time code (OTP) sent by SMS. The verification is done by Google Firebase Phone Authentication.
- Your name, profile photo, about / bio, and date of birth if you choose to add them. Name and photo are optional but help your contacts recognise you.
Contacts
- With your permission, we read the phone numbers and names in your address book to show you which of your contacts already use Skyorah, and to let you start chats and invite people who don't. You can turn this permission off in your phone settings.
Messages and media
- The messages, photos, videos, voice notes, documents, links and reactions you send and receive, along with the time they were sent, delivered and read, and who the sender and recipients are.
- For links you share, we may fetch the page to create a link preview (title, image).
Calls
- Audio and video calls are connected through our call provider. We keep call records (who called whom, call type, start and end time, whether it was answered) so you can see your call history. We do not record the audio or video of your calls.
Activity and device information
- Online status and last seen, so your contacts can see when you are available (you can hide this in Settings > Privacy).
- Device information: device model and name, operating system, app version, IP address, and the push-notification token for your device.
- Chat settings such as pinned, muted and archived chats, and your app preferences.
Safety information
- The users you block, and reports you send us (including the reported person, the reason, and the recent messages from that person needed to review the report).
2. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and verify your mobile number.
- To deliver messages, media and calls, and to show delivery and read status.
- To find your contacts on Skyorah and let you invite others.
- To send push notifications (new messages, mentions, incoming and missed calls).
- To show online status, last seen, and your profile to the people you chat with.
- To keep Skyorah safe: handling blocks and reports, preventing spam and abuse, and investigating violations of our Terms.
- To fix bugs, maintain the service, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your messages for advertising.
3. Who can see what
- Your messages and files are visible to the people in that chat or group.
- Your profile (name, photo, about) is visible to your contacts and to people you share a group with, not to strangers. Your mobile number is visible to people in your chats and contacts.
- Your online status and last seen are visible according to your privacy settings. If someone has blocked you, they won't see your status, photo or about, and your messages to them are not delivered.
- Blocking someone stops them from messaging or calling you. They are not notified.
4. Who we share information with
We share information only as needed to run Skyorah, with these service providers acting on our behalf:
- Google Firebase (phone number verification and push notifications).
- Apple Push Notification service (notifications and incoming-call alerts on iPhone).
- LiveKit (real-time audio and video for calls).
- DigitalOcean (cloud hosting and storage for our database and the files you send).
- SMS provider to send invitation texts, if you invite a contact by SMS.
We may also disclose information if required by law or a valid legal request, to protect the safety of users or the public, or in connection with a merger, sale or reorganisation of our business (you would be told if your data is affected).
5. Where your information is stored
Your information is stored on servers hosted outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and may be processed in other countries where our providers operate. Where required, we use safeguards for international transfers.
6. How long we keep it
- Your account data and messages are kept while your account is active.
- When you delete your account (Settings > Delete account), we remove your sign-in sessions and registered devices immediately, and we delete or anonymise the rest of your account data within 30 days, except what we must keep for legal reasons or safety (for example, reports about abuse).
- Messages you delete for everyone are removed from the chat for all participants. Backups may keep copies for up to 30 days.
- Messages you sent to other people remain in their chats unless they delete them.
7. Your choices and rights
You can, in the app or by contacting us:
- Edit your name, photo, about and date of birth, or remove them.
- Control your last seen, online status and read receipts in Privacy settings.
- Mute, archive, clear or delete chats; block or report a user.
- Change your mobile number (Settings > Change number).
- Stop contact access in your phone's permission settings.
- Delete your account at any time.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it by emailing support@zynito.com. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK or India), you may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to your data-protection authority.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and limit who on our team can reach production data. No system is perfectly secure, so please protect your phone and don't share your OTP with anyone. Messages are encrypted in transit and stored on our servers; they are not end-to-end encrypted.
9. Children
Skyorah is not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact support@zynito.com and we will delete it.
10. Permissions the app asks for
- Contacts: find friends already on Skyorah.
- Camera / microphone: photos, video, voice notes and calls.
- Photos / files: send media and documents.
- Notifications: alert you to messages and calls.
You can turn any of these off in your phone settings; some features won't work without them.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we will tell you in the app before they take effect. The date at the top shows when the policy was last updated.
